Flag-burning amendment fails by a vote



The Senate defeated by one vote a constitutional amendment banning desecration of the American flag.

The scary thing is how close the vote was. To quote Sinclair Lewis, "When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross."
